Muslim group attempts to ban bloggers at DNC
A Muslim advocacy group has contacted the DNC and told them to pull the credentials of a number of bloggers for the Democratic Convention. Apparently they believe they can ban some folks from attending the coronation simply because they post things these Muslims find offensive. Same as it ever was.
“Both of these blogs should be cut immediately from the list of credentialed sites. Neither functions as a responsible media outlet and both offend Muslims, as well as others. To allow them access to the Democratic National Convention sends a message to Muslims they will not forget. We look for Leah Daughtry, CEO of the Convention, to nix them ASAP.”
I guess these religious clowns think their delicate sensibilities trump the first freakin’ amendment. I feel obligated to remind them that the right to offend is enshrined in that document, the right to be free of offense is non-existent.

Problem is this is not Muslims, it’s Bill Donohue of the Catholic League. You need to remember this ain’t Saudi Arabia Bill, we don’t cotton to religious assholes telling us we are not allowed to offend them. As an apostate Catholic I would like to invite you to kiss my ass Bill. Don;t make me come out with the Jesus cartoons and have you starting riots.

Heh. Good one, Jimbo! Bill Donohue is a constant embarrassment to Christians, whether Catholic or not.
Good grief!

What blogs is the moron trying to get banned?

So, you know, Jesus and St. Peter were playing golf one day, and Jesus sliced the ball out into the rough. Just as it was rolling to a stop, a dove flew down, plucked it up, flew it to the hole and dropped it in.
St. Peter turned to Jesus and said, “Hey, now. Are we going to golf, or are we going to play around?”

UJ,
I agree completely; this guy has no right to not be offended. He has no right to ask that these bloggers be banned from the convention, and he should just shut up.
However, this is also something that Muslim activist groups do all the time. Just because it’s a “Catholic” this time (and Bill Donahue reminds me of the pricks that protest fallen soldier’s funerals… Westboro Baptist church. They claim to be Baptists, but the Baptists sure don’t claim him) doesn’t mean that Muslims don’t participate in this sort of thing more often. This is the type of tactic that CAIR employs all the time to silence their critics.
Anyway, just my .02 cents worth…
Thanks,
Jim C

It’s clearly not a first amendment issue. He also has as much right to be offended as you apparently are. You also need to understand that what Bill Donohue is doing is holding the hypocrite DNC to their own standards. I think it’s a good tactic, and I think the attacks on Donohue as an ‘idiot’ are undeserved. In recent years, he’s called the Dems on their bluff, and shows how if it were a Muslim group, the blogs likely would be dis-invited, but since it’s Catholics they like to mock, it’s o.k. I’m sorry that some seem to think it’s all fun and games to mock Catholics for calling the left on their hypocrisy.
